Editor’s Picks

Greetings! Here are the Editor’s Picks for December:

IPA – Port Brewing Wipeout

The hops are jumping out of the bottle on this one. You can smell the orange and pineapple from a mile away, and the bitterness hits you like a ton of bricks. One minor complaint would be that the carbonation might be a little heavy, but it still nears perfection. This is a hop-friendly West Coast IPA that absolutely is one of my favorites.

Double IPA – Avery Maharaja

Wow!  This beer grabs you from the second you smell the hops – and it only gets better from there.  The taste is outstanding: strong citrus hops with an emphasis on grapefruit.  The malt is there to balance things out, but this is about the hops.  A wonderful beer with bitterness to spare and a dry finish that will please any hop-lover.  Maharaja is a “high king” indeed when it comes to Imperial Double IPAs.
