Sucks

Style - Double IPA

Commercial Description:  This sad holiday season we didn’t have the brewing capacity to make our favorite seasonal brew, the widely feared BrownShugga’ Ale. So this substitute beer is a ‘Cereal Medley’ of Barley, Rye, Wheat, and Oats…. Full of complexishness from the 4 grains, and weighing in at 7.85% abv, Then joyously dry-hopped for that big aroma and resinous hop flavor.

Editor’s Notes:  The aroma is of strong, delicious tropical fruit. You can’t give this beer a deep inhale without muttering “Wow”, “Yum”, “Aye caramba”, or something similar. Luckily for us the taste gets the same reaction, although I think my specific utterance for this sample was “John Coctostan!”. Delicious mango, peach/apricot, pineapple, and grapefruit hop flavors jump all over your tongue in an explosion of happiness. Underneath the waves of hop flavor there is some really tasty brown sugar malt – an added bonus and distinctive quality of this beer (I can’t think of any other IPAs that have this wonderful combination of tropical fruit and brown sugar). The hop bitterness disappears fairly quickly as you swallow, but the flavors are so good that you don’t miss it. I worship this beer; for now it is a fantastic holiday seasonal but the word is that it might become available year-round (that would be the gift that keeps on giving the whole year!).
