West Coast

Style - IPA

Commercial Description:  A menagerie of hops is layered throughout the brewing process: Simcoe for unique fruitiness and grapefruit zest, Columbus for strong hop pungency, Centennial for pine and citrus notes and Cascade for floral aroma.  A multi-dimensional hop experience.

Editor’s Notes:  West Coast IPA is absolutely one of my favorites. The aroma is fantastic with a strong grapefruit presence; there also is a hint of toasted nut malt underneath. The taste delivers the hop payload you are hoping for, with standout grapefruit flavor. It is more balanced than I remember, with some sweet caramel malt providing a nice backbone for the hops. There is plenty of bitterness to satisfy your craving, especially right after you swallow. The hop pucker commences before your first swallow and lasts a nice, long time. This is a great IPA!

This is a great IPA, with a strong grapefruity aroma and a wonderful smooth pour. Not a lot of head on this one, however. The taste is intense, but definitely less fruity than the aroma would indicate, and much less than, say a Pliny. I would put this more in the crisp and refreshing camp with strong overtones of hoppy bitterness.

An awesome ipa! Very hoppy with four different layers of hops. Great flavorful beer with piney and grapefruit notes. A must try!

Unassuming nose, very little scent. Rather bitter and almost a tea note. Not a very powerful citrus flavor. Drinks like a powerful full bodied ale, probably due to the earthy tone instead of the flavorful sunshine you would expect. Normal mouthfeel. I’ll have to break out the coffee beans before tasting the next one. The aftertaste sticks with you. I would recommed this beer to drink though. It’s a fun beer, more agressive than I expected from the laid back west coast

I was not able to find the single IPA, all they have now is the double IPA. While pouring the beer it did not look or give a head like you would assume an IPA would. The smell is the normal grapefruit and hops. First taste is excellent, nothing is overpowering. What I did not care for was the lingering after taste, it must be from the extra hops making it a double IPA.
